Professional Development

NESDEC offers a broad range of high quality, continuous, professional development opportunities for all segments of the education community. Institutes and conferences are conducted in area hotels and conference centers on a variety of dynamic educational topics. NESDEC can also provide on-site training to districts upon request.

Videoconferencing

NESDEC is providing one-way videoconferencing services to allow participants to attend any Institute without incurring travel expenses.

NESDEC currently videoconferences with:

  • Maine State ATM Network
  • Vermont Interactive Learning Network

The following are "host sites" for NESDEC videoconferences:

  • Gateway Regional High School in Western MA
  • North Kingstown High School in RI
  • SAU #35 in Littleton, NH

NESDEC Institutes & Courses

We design programs to keep school staff on the cutting edge of educational issues and trends. Events pertinent to educators, school board members and support staff are held throughout the academic year. National and local experts share their experiences and strategies with participants. Each conference or institute gives intensive, practical and participatory learning opportunities.

NESDEC is an approved provider of Continuing Education Units (CEU's) in Connecticut, an approved provider of Professional Development Points (PDP's) in Massachusetts, and provides verification for staff development, in-service and recertification credits in all states.

Graduate and Professional Development Credit

ONE GRADUATE CREDIT AVAILABLE FOR AN EXTRA $125.00: One (1) graduate credit will be awarded by Endicott College to participants completing a 7 1/2-hour assignment following the Institute.

TWO GRADUATE CREDITS AVAILABLE FOR AN EXTRA $215: Two (2) graduate credits will be awarded to participants completing the Implementation Workshops and all required reading and written assignments.

Certificates:

Connecticut educators will receive 0.5 Continuing Education Units (CEU's).

All Massachusetts educators will receive 5 PDP's and those from the other four New England states will receive 5-hour certificates of attendance.

NESDEC is a registered Professional Development Provider for Connecticut and Massachusetts.

Professional Development On-Site Services

NESDEC's on-site professional development programs are tailored to meet specific school or district goals. Services include:

  • Long-Range professional development planning for your school or district
  • Workshop presentations for your district in-service programs
  • Collaborative professional development programming: establishing Professional Learning Communities through action research, study groups, cognitive coaching
