Sponsored by the United States Department of State, the Fulbright Teacher and Administrator Exchange Program arranges direct one-to-one classroom exchanges to over thirty countries for teachers at the elementary, secondary, two-year and four-year college levels. Each year about 400 educators take part in the Fulbright Teacher and Administrator Exchange. U.S. and international exchange teachers continue to be paid by their home institutions while exchanging classrooms, usually for one full academic year. A limited number of semester and shorter-term exchange assignments are also available. Administrators can participate in six-week shadowing experiences in nine different countries. The annual application deadline is October 15 for the following year's program. As the coordinating agency for the Northeast, NESDEC conducts regional conferences for foreign teachers; we also interview New England teachers participating in the program and provide them with an orientation.
